Re: renovation costs for a wc

It all depends to what standard you wan.

White wall tiles can be bought for Chf 10.-- SQM, fancy wall tiles, upto Chf 500.-- SQM. Bathtubs, i guess about Chf 300.-- should see you with a very basic bathtub, an angle unit with hydrotherapy from a top manufactuer such as Duscholux (Thoune) can cost Chf 15'000.--. A shower unit from the same people with a steam bath, about Chf 12'000.--. Toilets and cisterns anything from Chf 150.-- up to more than Chf 3k. Flooring, lino can be bought for about Chf 40.-- SQM, teak boat decking about Chf 350.-- SQM.

Re: renovation costs for a wc

We had the plumber here this morning, he has put a few in. Cost wise it is about 1500 extra for the pump units, otherwise it should be about the same cost as normal plumbing. It depends how far uphill you are trying to push the s**t but trying to find a cheap plumber here, you are doing that anyway, without a pump!! Just make sure you have enough room for easy access to the pump unit if it does need service.

Has anyone put in a downstairs WC here?

We've been quoted something rediculous and was wondering what they cost here. It needs a fan, external ventilation, drilling through the floor for the soil pipe and hot + cold water for the sink.

We live on a hill, so the pipe will connect to the main pipe in the basement and go downhill. We have plenty of space to run a full-sized waste tube through the basement.

The original estimate from the builder was 10-12k. Now it is looking more like 18-20k Drilling all the holes came to CHF 1800, the ventilation CHF 1500, adding a door and a wall with the water source to the sink CHF 10k and the suite itself was around CHF 2k. The WC would be tiny (1.7m x .80m wide) so i'm finding it hard to justify the expense. It would be just for the kids and visitors, and we already have 2 full bathrooms upstairs.

Obviously another dyslexic, I had read your name as matron for 18 months until you corrected me!
