Any Americans in Geneva with UN/In't organizations?

Hi There

My wife has accepted a position with a smallish international organization in Geneva and we plan to move there in a couple of months.

We are both Americans. Based on my research I understand that we will get a legitimation card that will allow us to live/work in Switzerland.

After some online searches (here and on real estate websites) it seems obvious that housing in France is much cheaper than in Geneva.
The question is will we be allowed to legally live in France and work in Switzerland?

I also have some other questions about her future tax status as an American working for an international organization. It will be great if other American expats working for international organizations in the area can send me a PM and help me figure out all the issues.

My understanding from friends is that you could live in France, just keep in mind the additonal paperwork, etc. It may be slightly more burecratic with your position, in addition to regular issues of living in France/working in CH. Best to verify all the details with your employer though.

As I understand from others, the salary will techncially not be taxed although may have to go through a convoulted payment and reimbursement scheme. Normally the organisation would have an agreement with the IRS.
