Hi, we currently live in London and my husband got a job in Zurich so we need to be there by the end of March. We are applying for flats at the moment but nothing yet...Viewing days are coming up just few days prior to viewing, which makes it so difficult for us to come (since we have clients here who need a week notice in order to leave them).
We are thinking that probably the best way is to rent a short term flat for a while and while we are there to look for a flat. However this is not what we were hoping to....
If anyone can make any suggestion of something better please tell us!!!We are looking at about 15 to 20 minutes to Paradeplatz by tram.

Service apartments seem to fit your short term needs. Try this company - we stayed with them for the first 3 months when we moved to Zürich. The flats are located at Sihlcity - a direct tram 13 takes you to Paradeplatz in 15 minutes max. Flats were in superb condition, modern and the landlord Joel, is a lovely obliging fella who took good care of us. The only down side is that it really isnt cheap:

Alternatively, try ums.ch - its a site where homeowners go on longer holidays and let their flats out furnished for a specific period of time. On the down side, you'll have to pay the company a commission of 1 months rent.

Hi everyone, I am a registered childminder in London and my husband got a job in Zurich so I would like to continue being a childminder there.
I heard that there is need for childcare in Zurich in general. I was wondering which area is the best for such a thing with lots of families that have young children who need childcare?
My husband will work in the city so we would prefer to live somewhere close.
Any info for childminding in Zurich would be also useful to me as I don't know anything about it. Don't know how different things are there.
At the moment we are looking to rent a flat so it would be good to know where to look....

Can you afford to set aside a few months to do an intensive course in German? Of course there are many ex-pats here with English language, so you may well find employment without speaking German. Good luck.
