what is a Nasszeller ??

i presume the literal translation means a wet cellar, which i would imagine is a cellar that is not waterproof and needs dry lining. if this is the case, what is the german for a person/company that does this kind of work??
Has anybody had this kind of work done and could tell me the approximate costs ?

thanks

Re: what is a Nasszeller ??

Usually around here Bathroom etc. - rooms with water required in them - are called Nasszelle. Nothing to do with Keller (cellar) as far as I know.
I don't think the kitchen counts as one, but don't quote me on that.

I don't think cellars are supposed to be 'waterproof' by the way - or they would also be 'air-proof'. Maybe you have to find out where the water is coming from and do something outside the building - we had to - BIG money. Drying out is another question - look for things like 'Wasserschaden' on vans that drive around from time to time!

thank you.

we are looking at a house this afternoon which has 2 nasszelle (müssen saniert werden) and automatically assumed it was relating to the cellars (as with our limited german we thought bathrooms were badezimmers)........we have a viewing later today so hopefully all will become clearer

Re: what is a Nasszeller ??

The direct translation might be better regarded as "a plumbed unit",

Hence this could include the bathroom, toilet, shower-room, utility with washing-maschine, etc

Re: what is a Nasszeller ??

a Nasszelle - usally used as a real estate tipical term - is a not to plush and luxurious Bathroom.. The term Zelle is also used in the prison and means the room where the inmate is in...

And some of the Nassezellen really look and feel like Zellen (the ones on the prison)

Well, both come from latin cella - which could mean anything from storage room or cellar over "basic room" to prison cell.

"nass": wet

"Zelle" : cell

A "Nasszeller" is therefore somebody who waters the cells:

Probably two shower-rooms. Or one bathroom and one shower-room.
As both need renovation, prepare to pay an extra 20-40k for that endeavor.
How old is the house?
