| | Regie name and shame thread?
Having heard some good and not so good stories on experiences with regies in Switzerland, I'm wondering if we shouldn't compile a list of those to avoid and those to recommend. Or has it been done already? I couldn't see a sticky, only a pretty comprehensive list of flat-search sites. To avoid:
Foncia Geco http://ch.foncia.com/
Maybe it's just the Fribourg office, but a pretty incompetent bunch; not answering the telephone, not returning calls, no 5- or 10-year assessment. When we moved out, at the handover the guy was about to give off about the state of the paintwork ("was there a war in here?"), when we pointed out that the 10 year repainting had never actually taken place.
They were also the PPE administrators when we first bought our flat, but were promptly sacked by unanimous vote of the residents commitee due to lack of communication, general inaction and complacency.
Livit http://www.livit.ch/
Only on hearsay from a couple of friends, but decidedly difficult especially during the handover. A thread on EF about them here http://www.englishforum.ch/housing-g...ing-livit.html To recommend:
Erm, none in my experience. Only rented from Foncia and through a private landlord.
Let's see how it roles.

I rent with Livit and they are OK what got my attention though was that I signed for the rent to be deducted from my account and for some reason it was taken out and then there had been a problem with their bank account and the money was returned, since I do not check my account everyday I got a letter saying I had to pay with a penalty ...I did but was a bit surprised...then why did I sign the authorization????
They also took ages to send me the orange slips |

There's always 2 sides to any story and i fancy quite a bit of misunddertanding due to language problems and different expectations from what should be done and who pays.
One bad experience and whoever gets bad rep, be it sonmebody in a cafe or a moving company or a regie. There are probably as many positives as negatives with most of these comparissons.

Here I agree with Today only. That someone comes on here and rants after having a difficult takeover or problems with their 'regie' is one thing, but to make a Thread like this as Name and Shame is rather different.
Sometimes the problem is not the firm, but the one representaive the tenant is deailing with.
We could, of course, do it, but ask representatives of the firms to then make a Name and Shame list on their EF tenants in a parallel thread.

Simply share your experiences with the regie and let people judge for themselves?

Maybe name and shame is a little harsh, but I think it would be a nice resource for newcomers (or anyone looking to move, in fact). Being prepared and forewarned could make all the difference to a satisfactory outcome.

I quite like Bob Marley, but I never really thought much of UB40...
Hang on... what is a 'Regie'? | The following 3 users would like to thank for this useful post: | |

We got our first flat when we moved here from Lea Vesti Immobilien. They don't appear to have a website themselves. I believe they are still going as they still have properties on homegate.
Good points:
They gave us the place even though we were living abroad at the time of looking.
They replaced with brand-new top of the range appliances, rather than repaired both the tumble drier and the washing machine (on separate occasions) when they broke as they were near the end of their life without fuss and very quickly.
The shower cubicle was also replaced as it leaked a bit. Again, no fuss.
Let us relinquish early without fuss (they found a replacement tenant).
We didn't lose any deposit despite a few dents and scratches on the brand new oak floors (dropped toy cars) and despite doing the final cleaning ourselves (admittedly to a high-standard).
Bad points:
None.
(It's not all doom and gloom here )

- renting our current apartment from them. Agent in charge of our house is proactive, responsive, polite and very professional.
- Proactively sent a letter to us in December with regards to adjustment of rent commencing April. Sweet!
- Had a couple of problems with the washer, cooking hob which were all seen to immediately when I called. Relevant repairmen came within 48 hours max.
- Accepts Swisskaution. Even has an arrangement with Swisskaution and did all the necessary paperwork for us in the beginning. Bad and ugly:
- Having said that, the agent who showed us the house initially was a rude cow. Got stuck in traffic, called her to say that I would be 10 minutes late and she muttered a "super" in response under her breath.
- Lied to us that a flat with a bigger balcony (lesser rooms and cheaper rent however) was already taken. New tenant for that flat we initially wanted to view only moved in 4 months after us. Taken my behind. Matadienst: Just ugly:
- rude agent on the other end of the phone.
- demanded approx. 50 CHF upfront as registration fees when I asked to see one of their apartments. No thank you.
Great thread Paddy. Will add on when I remember more as my subconscious mind has since blocked traumatising apartment related business when its done and dusted.
