Finding a place for two

Hi, I've recently moved over here with my girlfriend and have been in a serviced apartment, which we share with someone else, for the last few months. I would now like to find a furnished place for two people in Zürich for at least 10 months and am not really sure where to look. I've been through a few of the WG websites but we would really like a place to ourselves rather than sharing.

We have already been turned down from one place because the agency said it wasn't interested in renting to a couple. Is there just no market for this kind of thing in Zürich?

Any idea where I could look? I'm at my wits end.

Re: Finding a place for two

Welcome to the Forum.

Check out the sticky with all the housing sites and go through them a bit to see the sort of thing which is on offer.

Probably there is simply not much furnished rental accomodation on the market. Have you thought of trying for unfurnished and getting the stuff you need on here? A great many expats on EF are only here for a limited time and many are desperate to get rid of their furniture and kitchen goods before they leave.

Matthew, if you have a set amount of time in mind, try www.ums.ch

This site is where homeowners sublet their furnished property for a fixed amount of time as they take long holidays or sabbaticals. Some of them are really homely, and cosy as afterall, it is someone's home.

You'll have to pay a month's commission though. good luck, I hope you find something soon.

Re: Finding a place for two

Hi Matthew,
the most common place to look for housing is www.homegate.ch, even if you look for certain or limited time period. Homegate is well known so you will probably not be the only one applying for a place, but it's worth a try, I found my appartment this way.
Good luck!
