Too little info here. But I'd certainly get some professional advice sharpish. The Forum is not the best place for this.

Welcome to the forum.
To answer your question, if you own the building and it's not insured, then yes, you should be worried.

They said on the radio it was due to faulty work being done in the basement. I would probably be a bit worried but on the other han i am sure the authorities are looking in to it and will tell you if they feel you are at risk.

They were 'constructing' a cellar and as every kid knows, when you try to dig a hole underneath something, all rest of the stuff on top tends to collapse into said hole. The chaps working on the house lived too far from the sea and didn't build enough sandcastles in their childhood. Seems no-one was hurt though. Like in the case of most collapsing sand-castles.

This has happened on a regular basis recently in London, as an increasing number of people have been building 'media rooms' underground!
I also remember a case of collapse in Leicester, as a local GP had been building a nuclear bunker in his cellar.

What does it mean that it has collapsed?
Like the ceiling has come down?

Incredible. Does insurance cough up if somebody has been playing around with the foundations?
If I lived next door- I would have gone by now!

Around 1960, scientists said that computers would be able to make impeccable translations by the end of the 'sixties. Well, at the same time, other scientists predicted that nuclear fusion would replace all conventional power plants of the earth within ten or, at the very most, fifteen years. | Quote: | | | | Damn gravity; it gets everywhere, doesn't it... | | | | | On the other hand, if Newton had not issued his law of universal gravitation, we would still need a ceiling-high ladder to retrieve every little item we dropped.
