Re: rent/flat/Geneva

An idea of the number of square meters would make it easier to judge if it's a reasonable price or not.

If you can afford it and you like it (ie, it's not more that 30% of your income), go for it.

Sounds a bit expensive then to me. To give you an idea I had a nice one-bedroom flat in 1204 (just behind the station in Les Grottes) with about 55m2 total until last year and was paying 1900 per month.

Keep looking and good luck!

Re: rent/flat/Geneva

My friend's apartment in 1205 is CHF 4200 a month for a 4 piece. While it is a nice place, it's an absolute rip-off. But, alas, her company pays the rent, so who is she to complain...

30% of net or gross income?

Not more than 30% of gross income is the general rule.

Re: rent/flat/Geneva

1205 is plainpalais, champel... I am not familiar with that code?

Short answer: Yes, looks expensive.

Long answer: Provide more details! (sq meters? old or new building? renovated or 20 year old painting? fully furnished? nice kitchen with all the appliances?).

I wouldn't pay more than 3k for a newly renovated 80m2 (2 bedrooms) in a nice ancient building.

If it were the old town, I would be willing to pay a premium.
