Electric Heat

Hello,

We've been looking at apartment ads in preparation of our upcoming move to Fribourg. One ad mentions "Chauffage électrique" (electric heat?) for the apartment. Is this functional heating for a ground-floor apartment?

Thank you for your help.

Re: Electric Heat

Probably refers to some form of electrical element wall heater/radiator.
It could be a storage heater, which heats up special heat bricks during the night with cheaper electricity, and then slowly releases the heat during the following day - come the evening there isn't much left.

To be honest, having Googled both English and French, there appears to be a few different systems available, so hard to say for sure.

If the price of heating is included in the rent, it's not too bad, but if you're responsible for paying, then it could turn out expensive.

Functionality of any heating system is also dependent on other factors such as insulation, draft-free windows and doors, etc.
