Hey, I've been trying for a few months now to find an apartment in Baden, Baden that is both affordable and accepts cats. The latest website I've tried is easywg.ch. I've found a potential place on it, but I have to subscribe to the site to be able to actually talk with the person offering it. Before I spend 20CHF, does anyone know if the site is for real, or just another type of housing scam?

PS - any other tips on finding a place in Baden would be greatly appreciated. I have less than a month before I fly over.

Looks sound to me. But it appears to be about looking for flat share, not actual apartments (I used a similar site in the UK a few years ago). Try homegate.ch for apartments, and that's free for the searcher

I've used this site and never had to pay. I believe you only pay if you want to be a premium member. You can still send e-mails as a basic member.
Not many people use the site and you rarely get new properties listed, so i would advise you not to hand over the 20chf.

Ps. It's only for flats to share and not for sole occupation as far as I am aware.

I believe it's ok though I never used the paid service, but as has bee pointed out there are many other sites that offer the same service (albeit generally with less attractive interfaces and fewer features) for free.

Yeah, I found a place with four people looking for a fifth. But two basic members can't e-mail each other - one of them has to be a premium member, and neither of us are at this point. If there's a chance it can get me a place, I think it's worth the cost, considering I'm about ready to fork out a lot more to hire an apartment hunter.

I've tried every website I can find, including Craigslist, which went horribly. But between the cat and my financial situation, I haven't found anything yet. Keep suggesting sites, though. Maybe there's one I haven't heard of yet.

Yeah, I've been trying homegate and WGZimmer for a couple weeks, at a guess. Thanks for the new one! Hopefully there are other folks outside Zurich who use it.

The smaller villages around Baden might also be worth a good check. The area is quite small so you won't have a long commuting to your work place.

Actually Wettingen offers a good range for a decent living, e.g shops etc. Some of the villages are just too small to live there, but as said the area is really small.

DId you do an advert here? It helps if you place one and state the following: rental term, start date, your budget, furnished or unfurnished, and what is your gender. Also, is the cat an indoor cat only?

I didn't know there was a space here to advertise that I'm looking for an appointment - I did click around a bit, and never found one. I guess I need to look harder.

Looks legit--- try searching in homegate ...under Furnished Property section..they usually have a few places in Baden.

Or alternatively i have a 4.5 Zimmer Terraced Apartment in Birmensdorf ZRH, 100m2 ..with a great view..which im willing to share with someone for 850chf per month...but only until 30 Sept.

Yeah, I know. Thanks, though! Sometimes I'm not even sure which town a place is in - some of the town borders seem rather ambiguous to me, lol.

Actually, I don't think I've seen more than a handful of places that were in Baden town itself. And I'm slowly broadening my search further and further as I get more desperate. Does anybody know how late the buses in the area run? I've started investigating some places that are half an hour by bus, but over 90 minutes by foot, and I wouldn't want to have my social life stymied by needing to catch a bus in time to get home.
