As Odile mentioned, without some more information it is impossible to actually give you tips. I can give you some guidelines:

1. Is it a house or apartment?
2. Is it an old building or new?
3. what's the state of the construction? Does it need reconstruction?
4. What is your budget? (no numbers, but more like doing work yourself, hiring a company/architect, really only small stuff)
5. looking for surface remodelling or structural remodeling?
6. talking about new furniture or new pavements for the garden?

I would advise you to take a look at "do it yourself" shop catalogues, like obi, to give you ideas

Some TV shows also can give you really good ideas (there was a good one in RTL but I don't remember the name)
