How to get help moving our couch upstairs.

Hello All,

we moved into a new apartment in Ecublens recently and moved all our stuff ourselves, but the door to the living room is so small that our couch/sofa can not get in from stairs. This sofa is not very heavy but it isn't easier to disassemble, it looks like the only way to bring it in is from the large doors of balcony connected with the living room. We live on first floor and sofa is right now stored in our garage at the ground floor. I am wondering if there is any moving/relocation company we can contact who can come and help us with moving our couch upstairs through balcony. If you had an experience with any professionals moving the furniture using balcony around Lausanne/Ecublens area, please let me know.

Thanks much in advance.

Re: How to get help moving our couch upstairs.

Option 1: create an EF event, offer beer/wine/pizza/BBQ etc. get to meet the local EF crowd and have a party (don't forget to move the furniture first...).

Option 2: call someone like Papa Goose or other "handyman" - search EF for the likes.

Option 3: Google removals people in your area and pay more and have less fun.

HTH.

Re: How to get help moving our couch upstairs.

I am pretty sure that to get a company in just to lift one sofa would work out pretty expensive. If there is there any way to partly dismantle it and move it up the stairs I am sure that would work out cheaper/easier.

It is possible that some local members or neighbours may be willing to assist getting it up stairs for payment of alcohol/food. Also a good way to introduce yourself to the locals.

Alternatively, have you considered replacing the sofa with a smaller one?

Deep Purple - Thanks for reply, may be we will have to get some tools like ropes/pulleys etc. If nothing yes we may have to dispose it off.

This company have a ramp- lift device that will easily bring the sofa up to your balcony, http://actt.ch/

I used them years ago: get an offer in writing as I found them to be difficult.

To facilitate the smooth transport of your furniture, we have an elevator (Elevator furniture) that can reach a maximum height of 25m (~ 7 floors depending on the configuration and access of the building), supporting a maximum load of 400Kg.

Re: How to get help moving our couch upstairs.

We got our job done today. I found a gentleman named Ferraro Fulvio, using google (contact found on google)
I emailed him, next day he was at our place 7 am in the morning. He came with 2 other guys and they moved the sofa from our garage in basement all the way upto to the first floor in less than 15 minutes at most reasonable price I could imagine. I would recommend him to anyone seeking help with moving. He speaks good english is very helpful and have a smiling face.

Shouldn't have copy pasted the phone number, I wonder if there is a way to edit a post

Re: How to get help moving our couch upstairs.

Cevey in Lausanne were very good when we moved into an apartment in Lausanne recently.
They hauled stuff up over the balcony and into the apartment, because the doors were too narrow.
Maybe expensive for just one sofa though, but they were very helpful

If this is one of those trucks with the elevator on the back....... then these are "THE BOMB !!!"

I'm definitely hiring one of these puppies and a removal truck next time I move.

Sorry, I couldn't find the link, so I'm hoping that this is what Ittigen posted.

If you pay for my train ticket from Olten (I got a Halbtax), I'll help you carry it.
