Security alarms for flats

Hi there!

Could anyone suggest from their experience the best alarm systems for securing homes?

Anything about best brands/shops would appreciated!

Thanks!

K.

Hey there,

Do you own the flat or is it rented? Are you looking for wireless solutions or can you run cabling and make "intrusive" changes? Cost and budget implications also apply.

Thanks for the reply saint7uk. Yes, I own the flat and it is not in Switzerland (that's why I need the security at first place)
And wireless solutions are preferred.

In respect to the cost, I would not like to go above 600 CHF.. Except if the solution is really that worth The cheaper the better of course, but it should do the task.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you...

Do you have any ties with the UK? If so there are quite a few trade companies that supply such equipment that can either be fitted or "Self Fit DIY" I would suggest importing such a solution as it would be far cheaper than in CH.

Your budget is perfectly reasonable for importing such a set-up and I can point you in the right direction.

Thanks saint7uk! Unfortunately I do not have (good) connections to the UK. Is there a website you can order from?

Unfortunately not that I know of directly into CH, one of my colleagues from back in the day owned a security and communications company and I always used his trade suppliers whenever I needed to design and install a personal system.

I could drop him a line if you like and see if the same suppliers still exist, but I would most likely have to use his or my company for purchase as they never sold directly to the public, more to the big alarm install firms...

these guys send to switzerland, bought a system from them last year, wireless, gsm (so it calls you or texts you if the alarm is triggered etc) and excellent customer care, they replaced a sensor that was faulty no questions asked

Awesome thanks bigblue, that will be far easier for the OP... I just found some interesting things on Global Gadgets too, their GU10's are far better priced than the Swiss rip-offs, time to place an order me thinks...

Re: Security alarms for flats

Last time browsing through Media Market, I had a look at the security stuff made by Logitech - as one would expect are they very consumer oriented easy-to-use wireless cameras that even I could install - without losing too many features a real stalker would like to sacrifice on

our system has 20 or so sensors, inc cabon monoxide and smoke detectors, all in it was cheaper then the cheapest system in conrad (the cheapest place we could find here) that only had 1 sensor included!! 1!! what ***** use is an alarm with 1 sensor???
it texts you the alarm is triggered and what sensor it was, you can call it up and listen (and talk to if you want) the person breaking in lol or know if your house is on fire

Re: Security alarms for flats

Get one of these...

No installation necessary but the upkeep can be a bit pricey.
