Thoughts on living in Fourches?

Recently arrived in Geneva and am looking for housing. As expected, I have not had much luck! However, did find a nice little house in Fourches. It is right off of bus 9.

As I am not familiar with Geneva, I was hoping you all could help me with this. I will be working in the UN area, and don't really mind the commute. However, I was concerned that this is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Do you think this area is too isolated? Is it too far from the heart of Geneva? I want to feel like I am in Geneva, not some suburb

Any input is appreciated.

Many thanks

Re: Thoughts on living in Fourches?

I think the OP means chemin des Fourches which is in Chêne-Bougeries.

For the UN it's the wrong side of the river. Crossing the river is a nightmare in the rush hour and although there are bus lanes it gets very sticky in the centre of town.

Geneva is so small that I'm not sure where is the heart of the town...

if you're Chemin des Fourches, it's not isolated. I don't think you can be "isolated" in Geneva.

If you've got a bicycle you can quickly go from there to the UN area, buses are nice too. Just need to see which one....

and you've got the mouettes

Forget the car if you stay in town.

did you have a look on Google earth ?

there's also some map on the official website of the town.

Re: Thoughts on living in Fourches?

Sorry everyone, I meant Fourches is the bus stop- it is in Chêne-Bougeries. I guess my question is if this area is too residential. I am 22 and was looking forward to having a fun summer and don't want to be in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks everyone!
