Kitchen from Germany - what details do i need

Hi

I would like to look into buying a kitchen from mobel markt Dogern. My question was practically how do i go about this. Last time i ordered a kitchen it was in the uk, somebody came to my house and measured everything and then ordered the equipment and then installed.

So, if i go over the border , do i need to bring ful plan and measurements with me .....or how does this work....I don't want to go all the way there and then realsie i can't provide them with some critical detail.

Cheers and thanks very much

Not sure about Germany specifically, but I know for Italy they are very used to dealing with Swiss customers.

You go meet with them, take your kitchen measurements, pick out what you want and design the kitchen together. They then send someone to your place measure up the space and a few weeks later they arrive to install your kitchen. It's super easy. And with the current strong CHF against the Euro, buying a kitchen over the border is cheaper than ever.

Why not call the company in Germany to see what you need to bring before you go and make sure they are happy to install a kitchen in Switzerland?

Re: Kitchen from Germany - what details do i need

I got a kitchen from Germany (Schweigert) last year. You need to go with the kitchen measurements, including where the extraction fan is. Then you design your kitchen with the consultant, he prices it all up. They come round and do precise measurements. Your old kitchen is removed, and they fit the new one.

They will arrange to rip out your own kitchen, but it's cheaper to do yourself. (And not difficult).

Note, we had to arrange your own Swiss plumber and electrician. It's best to get these guys involved early - we needed a new circuit installing for the oven we'd chosen, and a couple of sockets moving, and there were some issues interfacing the Swiss plumbing to the German (especially as one piece of the sink piping was missing!).

It was definitely considerably better value for money getting from Germany, but also it was less straightforward.
