| | Need the "attestation de non-poursuite" letter from BS
Hey All,
We've been hunting for apartments and have found a few that we like so we need to put in the "No Dues" or the attestation de non-poursuite (whatever the German version is called) letter to our applications.
We went to our local Gimende but they told us to get it from some Court House in the BS (seems to be around the munster some where). Can someone help me with the exact name, location or a phone number? I am hoping to just call them and ask them for it, so that they can send me the letter and whatever the invoice for the costs are.
Any help would be much appreciated.

In DE it is called the Betreibungsauskunft, costs around CHF17 and the printout is considered valid by landlords if it is no older than 3 months. http://www.gerichte.bs.ch/bka-betreibungsregister.htm Bäumleingasse 1, Hochparterre, Büro 13

In BS it is close to Freistrasse (around the corner)
Hubby said it takes 5 minutes in and out!

Speaking of the Betreibungsauskunft, I was wondering how long it is typically valid for when looking for a flat. The search can sometimes take a while, so if one gets an Auszug aus dem Betreibungsregister (extract from the prosecution register?) at the start and the search extends for several weeks, perhaps even months, will the landlords be satisfied with a document that dates back a bit?

One has to reapply for it if the current one is older than 3 months. I make copies and include them into the applications. Original is always retained by me and shown to the landlord if requested but never given away.

3 months. Is this just a tacit rule of thumb abided by many landlords and Verwaltungen or is there a law that explicitly defines this validity period?

No law as far as I know. Only best industry practice Example here in this PDF

Thank you again for the information Mr Jrspet. Hopefully one can assume that the conditions to apply for a position at a security company are the same as for renting a flat. At least, as far as the prosecution record is concerned, since I haven't yet seen the question "Ich spreche Schweizerdeutsch" in a flat-renting application form (yet).
