Re: Apartment in Geneva anybody???

Try via the HR of your wife's work.
3 bedrooms, 1 living room, 1 kitchen is considered a 5 pièces in Geneva (the kitchen counts) and a 4 pièces in Vaud (the kitchen doesn't count)

Geneva prices for that size will be circa 2'800 to 4'000, (not kidding, there's a bad housing/flat shortage in GVA)

The HR at my wifes work Suck!!! chances are I am better off looking for it myself..

The prices are off the top... there is place right opposite my current one which I like but who do you reckon I speak to...? is the a concierge? I have walked by many times but cant seem to find one. is this the case?

Re: Apartment in Geneva anybody???

It will be more difficult to get a flat without the help of the HR.
You'll need your wife's proof of employment.
Once you have all the support (monthly salary sheets, contract, even a letter from the HR saying she's permanently employed) then contact the diverse Real Estate agencies (régies).
Make you life easier by finding out whether HR offers any relocation agency services who will find a flat on your behalf.

cool... now i get it... Its just that i don't see them taking the initiative if I were to find a place then they would do the rest each time we ask them they seem to drag and put it off... If i could find one I could then perhaps get them to work on it...

You may want to register with the Geneva Welcome Centre (http://cagi.ch/en/logement.php) - they have a database of properties.

If you have time, you could also stop by and talk to them in person - they might be able to give you other tips. You can walk there from rue de Moillebeau.

Good luck!

I can't find the thank you mechanism today - but that is a brilliant link. Thankyou twice over.

You're welcome! I hope it helps! Do note that they don't always update their list of properties, so some ads can be really old...
