Re: Female needs help in Basel

White chick, I think we're on the same flight.

Things have calmed down a lot since this morning, and it's difficult to keep a grasp on how hopeless things looked this morning. I seriously can't believe the kindness of complete strangers.

Outside the heat of the moment I feel a bit like I over reacted this morning, like Mimi said emotions were running very high, I was suddenly facing the prospect of being homeless in a foreign country.

But like I said in my first post my bf/ex/whatever isn't abusive and I never felt in physical danger. It was just a horrendous argument that got way out of hand. The thing that most frightened me was being alone in a place where I don't know many people and have limited ways of contacting people, and unfortunately no money to look after myself.

Eventually once he calmed down I was allowed to use the phone, and I've realized that overall I need to protect my independence and make sure I'm never in a situation when I have to rely on someone.

I don't know what will happen and if we'll reconcile I just know that people here have been wonderful and helped stop me panicing and gave me time to think. Honestly thanks for the support.

I wanted to say this before. This is the most important thing. Look after yourself first, and then you can look after others. Whatever the situation looks like right now, get yourself a phone pronto. And good luck.

Re: Female needs help in Basel

Stay positive and also don't accept any form of abuse and verbal abuse is meant to damage your self esteem so that you lose your independence. To Mimi and the other EF members thanks so much for supporting Shelby in her time of need. I truly believe that there are still good, loving and honest people out there.

Re: Female needs help in Basel

Glad that things seems to be calming down a little bit. May be at a later date some of us could help hook you up with a small job or something so that you have a wee bit more to fall back on...

You never know what you find in this strange place called EF....

Once again let us know how we can help.. Some of us were late to get to this thread and step up to the plate so I am sure that there are many more who would be happy to help you.

But then again, with mimi you have more or less landed with Mickey Mantle (baseball superstar for the people who don't know!)

Re: Female needs help in Basel

Good luck!

Just a thought, take the computer with you if you can (is it yours/a laptop?) or at the very least wipe your browser history and cookies before leaving. If I came home to find a family member had disappeared, their computer would be the first place I'd look.
