How to get a structural survey done

We are thinking of to buying a farmhouse in AG which needs renovation. Before we spend any money on architects, etc. we want to get a full structural survey done to make sure it is not going to fall off the hill side, etc. We have asked UBS (who will provide our mortgage) for some names of local surveyors but they keep giving us the names of people who value property instead of proper structural surveyors who are willing to stand by their reports and who are insured. Does anyone have any names of companies who can provide this service?

Re: How to get a structural survey done

was searching for any EFer's recommendation on an architect or a structural surveyor and come across this thread.

Similar experience with OP where we have quite a few names given by the bank for an external valuation (i.e. looking at rooms, condition, potential rental value, etc.), but no name for someone to do a structural survey (what needs replacing, whether a building is structurally sound or if it'd not stand for the next 10 years. etc.) Can anyone recommend someone (in Zurich)?

You should ask a freelancer engineer or an engineering practice to make an assesment. If a static analysis is required then it will cost you some money and it's kind of hard to find someone...if you want just an unofficial structural assemsent and an on-site inspection then it's easy :-).
