my wife and I had a terrible general experience with Romande Energie in the past year, and in particular over one specific episode. I might post it one day in the rant forum as I'm somehow still angry .

Anyways, we're moving to a new place in a couple of months and I was wondering if there's any other electricity provider in Vaud, so that we're not forced to have a contract with Scammy Romande again.

Do you know anything about that? I don't even mind paying more, if that means getting rid of them, but all the information I managed to gather so far are unfortunately not promising...

There is another company called SEIC. They have a limited offer in Vaud. I think it depends where you are. I don't think private households can choose companies.

I'll second that, all the companies have area monopolies.

They also operate black lists, you need to sort out the disagreement first.
If you owe them money you won't get a connection!

Thankfully we sorted that out. Looks like they had something with the previous tenants and the apt was in the grey list. But their behavious was anything but professional, and I would have liked to be able to choose another company.
