SwissCaution for employees of International Organisations?

We found an apartment in Vaud, my relo agent told me today that Swiss Caution, the insurance that we can take instead of coughing up 3 months rent up front, is not applicable to UN employees because we are staff of international organisations.

If that is true, I didnt understand the rationale. Can anyone shed light on this please?

cheers,
bn

pardon - the title should read employees of international organisations, not for.

I am not sure to be honest, but it may have to do with a special legal status for employees of international organisations and their privileges and immunities...

They are probably afraid that they can't legally chase you for any money that you (might) owe at the end of your stay.

But I am sure they would be able to provide you with more accurate info, if asked.. my theory anyway..

Re: SwissCaution for employees of International Organisations?

Update:

So yes it seems that this is correct. SwissCaution does not work for holders of the carte de legitimation. However, there are alternatives: SmartCaution and Firstcaution.

I took SmartCaution.

Hope this helps!!

cheers,
bn
