Are B permit holders allowed to sublet their apartments with furniture to a third party? As far as I heard from the real estate agency, it is totally okay for them. But are there any legal restrictions for foreigners?

Thanks. One question specific to my situation: our three year contract expires in March 2012, I want to sub-let from November 2011 for two years. Is this an explicit no-way, or perhaps the 'normal' solution is to request an extension before offering/requesting a sub-lease..?

Yes, you can. I did it - sublet my apartment for 6 mths. As long as the agency is happy with the sublet tenant (on paper). You need to have a sub-let contract in place though.
