I got stuck in a lift once. 16th floor of an appartment block.....in Tehran. I saved my own life and that of the others in the lift with a Toblerone bar.
Did you use it as an improvised ladder or as a wedge to force the doors open?

Or perhaps it was one of those glass lifts and you used the shiny box to signal for help.

Whatever you did, it's clear that you should always be carrying a Toblerone when you step into a lift.

Frankly, I'd go on worrying and asking questions.
I walked into the ground floor of a building, the lift doors opened, and I stepped into a void, fell several floors BUT lived to tell the tale.
If a lift was making unusual noises, I'd be asking questions of whomsoever I thought might know the answer and would be totally unconcerned about offending anyone at all.
Seriously? You must have been badly injured, are you ok now?

Thanks. I'm fine, but I had to change the parting in my hair from one side to the other to hide the hole.
I was going to a meeting on the 13th floor and, had it happened on the way down, I certainly wouldn't have lived to tell the tale.
Everything's relative

Re: Elevator maintenance

Short update:
The concierge says that this monday there is actually an elevator repair guy coming, who will then tell the owner of the building to fix/do maintenacne/replace the whole elevator, who will then most likely do nothing. She has contacted them, and complained about the elevator several times already, and nothing has been done since, so she has little faith that this time it will change. But, with enough inhabitants of the building complaining, you never know!

Re: Elevator maintenance

...And of course last friday it broke down completely. I wonder how long it will take to get it fixed, considering it has never seen any maintenance since it was put into the building back in 1973!
Luckily I only live on the 4th floor, so I will get a workout the next few months...
