Hi

I am trying to replace our front door lock, just the outside (not the inside mechanism) as it has gotten splattered with paint. I have tried Jumbo and Bau&Hobby, but can't get the same size as the old one. Does anybody know of a shop which offers a wide selection or where I could place an order for a replacement (or an internet site - I couldn't find anything)?

Locksmith. Not trying to be a smartass- they really will have the best choice. And if they've been in business for a while often have older locks that fit older doors but aren't in use anymore.

They also know locks- I wanted to replace one of the two on our door and when I brought the cylinder in the locksmith took one look and said, "French. Old. Can't replace it with anything available here- gotta go to France". They don't know stuff like that at Jumbo.

You could rub the paint off with some steel wool, or a kitchen pot scourer.

or type the 'brand' of the lock into "Google"

find their contacts and ask where to locate the most appropriate outlet.



or as Mud said...... the locksmith...... that is their job, so they should be good at that sort of thing.
