Need to ship 4 dining chairs to Ireland, advice wanted.

Hi, I know there are countless threads on shipping, someone even reccommended Swiss Post.
What is the best way of shipping 4 dining chairs to Dublin in time for Xmas?

Really appreciate any advice,

thanks!

I take it no-one knows anything about shipping chairs. I just have chairs to ship, and thats it.

You could contact the international removal firms in case they are perhaps going back empty to Ireland. Unlikely but sometimes I've been lucky with London.
Otherwise there's DHL who aren't cheap but I've found them very reliable.

dont go to a van removal place ull pay though the nose 4 it and it wont give you any christmas spirit and ull end up resenting your chairs because the price will make you cry. there are a few lorry firms that travel internationally and pick up and drop off your stuff for a reasonable price, if there heading that way, a lot of my freinds use this system and it drastically cut down the price than using a removal/international transit van, try and google it i will ask my freinds if they have a number or a website you can use, i know myself it was a pain moving my stuff here from england and ireland.

Indeed this is your best bet. We've used this sytem to transport furniture to friends in Holland, last time we paid EUR 300-400 for door-to-door delivery of a double bed incl. mattress, coffee table, small sofa, bookcase and some boxes. Of course they also arranged the necessary paperwork.

Just 4 chairs should be cheaper. You have to be flexible with the dates but in your case this should not be a problem.

Thanks for all the replys, appreciate the help!
I have contacted a couple of international moving firms, and they said 4 chairs do not take up enough cubic metres so they can`t ship them.
The post office gave me an odd look too!

Very strange

Have you made it clear to them that you are flexible and they do not need to come just for the chairs, but they can combine it with another transport?

Coincidentally a friend told me the other day that she also shipped some baby stuff back to the UK. It was transported together with other people's furniture (whom she did not know). Not sure if this is common practice, but it worked for her.

Re: Need to ship 4 dining chairs to Ireland, advice wanted.

in all honesty, everyone is likely to fleece you. Take a car, drive over - it'll be likely cheaper.

another outside bet is to see if someone is moving back to the UK and get your Irish recipients to come over and collect them.

what's so special about these chairs? Are they more expensive than the shipping?
