Re: Recommend good furniture shop

Hello,
I am an Australian cabinet maker and have my own firm here. Depending what you are looking for I make everything to order see www.noonwoodwork.com my prices are not more expensive than Mobel Pfister but you can have exactly what you want and it will be unique. I work in solid wood (pine or fir mostly), the style is rustic but modern, my speciality is with old or recycled wood. It adds a warmth and charm than can only come from well aged (up to 200 years old) timber. I also have a range of balcony furniture, please see the website for a small glimpse of what I am doing.

Thanks Rob

Most of the furniture stores in the area are all now concentrated in Etoy, you have Interior, Pfister, Migros, Fly, Interio, TopTip, etc.

For more traditional, there is http://www.interiors.fr/

and just over the Jura in France http://www.meublerie.com/

Not sure where you are, but near Zürich (Dübendorf) there is a shop called KARE that has some nice solid wood pieces and relatively decent prices.

It may be a good idea to update your location to obtain a local view of advise. If you are in the UK then I would not look in CH for furniture.

You could try places in Germany like Braun in Singen.

I'd say it depends on the item. There are good and bad pieces, it is best to go and see for yourself. You can get some nice stuff from there but some items look nice in the catalogue and are very flimsy IRL.

We bought a sofa from Micasa, and so far we are happy with the quality and durability. We tried some at Pfister which were even more comfy, but also 3x more expensive. Given that the sofa will probably end up in the Brockenhaus when we leave the country, we decided Micasa was good enough... It might not last 20 years like the Pfister sofas, but that is not our intention anyway.

If you don't mind secondhand stuff see if there's an HIOB near your Swiss location. www.hiob.ch They get a lot of wooden furniture and, being a charity, have very reasonable prices. Also good for picking up office desks, etc. They're happy to take donations of stuff too and you can arrange with them to have them come and pick up big items.
