Excessive Heating Costs

Hello,

Iíve just received my annual bill relating to the correction of household costs incurred in my apartment block over the last 12 months and have received quite a shock.

Iíve never received a refund and am always asked for more, but this year Iíve been asked to pay an additional 900 francs.

Looking closer at the cost breakdown I see the gas heating costs have risen by 70% from last year. Looking closer at this I see my share of these costs is over 1,500 francs for the year.

Is anyone aware if gas prices have risen so much, Iíve looked but canít see any information for Swiss gas prices?

I also wonder how my annual gas heating costs compare with others. I live in a 3 room 85 sq meter apartment.

Am I likely to get anywhere if I contact my apartment agency?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

HJP

Re: Excessive Heating Costs

I live in a 80 sq m apartment too, and altogether I pay about CHF 3'600 per year for all costs.

You could raise your monthly payments, or save harder, and yes all fuel prices went up about 20 months ago.

Extra 500 this year on a 114m2 apartment. Not a nice bill, but it could have been a lot worse.

Re: Excessive Heating Costs

When we moved house about 12 months ago, we queried the NK because it didn't seem high enough - the landlord was very apologetic when he proposed that he put it up to about 220chf a month - mostly heating costs...

Our previous apartment we were paying more like 250-270 a month and we got an adjustment of around 40 per month for the winter months. Ouch...

We're in a big apartment (5.5 rooms, 120 square metres). Our old apartment ran the heating 24 hours a day through winter, and there wasn't much insulation in the roof so we lost a lot of heat. Our new apartment they only run the heating a few hours a day (late afternoon and early morning). I hope that keeps the costs down!
