Living in Birmensdorf - advice please

I notice that there are a number of posts about living in Birmensdorf, but they are quite old. I've been offered the rent on an apartment there, so just wondered if anyone had any more recent comments/advice/anecdotes regarding life there in general. In particular, as my wife will be moving there with me but not working, I wondered what it will be like for here. Is there a good community spirit, are there activities / groups she can get involved in? Our apartment is near the vets. Anyone live that end?

Re: Living in Birmensdorf - advice please

I live in 'downtown' (har har, near the center) Birmensdorf since September and I like it a lot. Community life I can't say because I have been working a lot or away, but I like how quiet it is, how everything is nearby, and how good the public transport is. Someone complained to me that it was far out, and asked why I wanted to live so far away and not in the city. Funny, because it is only fifteen minutes out, I can think of places in Zurich proper that are fifteen minutes out.

Anyway, it is a cute place, I'm really happy so far.
