Not exactly much a gentleman, are we... couldn't you have helped or heaven forefend done it for her? Or was the rugby on (in which case I might understand)?
Haha I wish the rugby was on! Nah, she just insisted to do it on her own.

All the best with your assembly drmom!

I do wonder why sometimes.. some men I know are absolutely hopeless with anything mechanical or need to read instruction to assemble. Sometimes it is so painful to watch them. At least some have sense to NOT try to do it.. some will make a pigs ear of it.. BUT a pregnant wife to put things together?? Did you get her tea/coffee/biscuit/chocolate while she is slaving away? plus a romantic dinner with a feet rub afterwards?

To all the DIYers - the cheapskate in us is coming out and we are going to tackle the job ourselves! We have put loads of things together with 5 moves over the last 15 years or so, so we are quite well versed :-) I will just try to remember to not through in my opinion and let my husband pick the way things go together. He does, after all, read the directions...

I will post back and let you know how we got on!

If you get stuck a friend of mine has worked here in Zurich for 8 years in a removalist company as a team leader. He can assemble everything right up to USM furniture. I'm sure he would do it for a lazy 30-40/hr cash.....

Re: Cost for (IKEA) furniture assembly

So, we succeeded in assembling our furniture! It took a little while but in the end, I am glad we did it ourselves as I made a million changes as to where I want drawers, etc., and now we are pretty much experts!
