Cancel a contract just signed

Hi there,

I signed a contract for an appartment and I sent it.

However I have just received the option of another appartment which happens to be much much much better and cheaper.

Anyone knows if there is any possibility or way to cancel the previous one?

There is still 1.5 months time until the moving in date.
Thanks !!

Phone the person you signed the contract with and ask if you can cancel...

They may not have a problem with it.

If they say you can't cancel then I have no idea what you can/can't do, but I'd try just asking them first.

All you can do is give notice now (three months, or whatever it says in the contract) and you will be held responsible for paying the rent during the notice period. However, if you can find another tenant who meets with the landlord's approval, that new tenant will take over your responsibility for paying the rent.

If you're going to do this, make sure you have the other apartment all signed up first!

Good luck!

If it is possible, there is usually a penalty ( Administrative costs ) but best if you visited the nearest MieterVerband ( MV ) and ask for advice.

Thank you all.

I have been trying all day to call to ask about a possible cancellation but it is always busy. Mmm...
I will keep trying and I think I'll join the Mieterverband, you have to be partner to ask for info, right?
