Hi - I am a little bit confused with this - I have lived in my apartment for just over 3 years and never received such bill - should I enquire?
Check your rental agreement. Your 'Nebenkosten' might be included in your rent, payments on account are common but some landlords still included the 'Nebenkosten' in the rent.

Hi there,

I have received a bill for the heating. Well it's much more I have expected to be. I'm paying "Nebenkosten" monthly and now I have received a bill to cover extend of the heating for last winter. In the previous apartment I have paid something about 90 CHF and the winter was cold and long like the one before and now it is almost 600 CHF! Now renting company suggested me to pay more NK monthly to avoid this shock when the year ends.

I will ask renting company if all of the neighbors have the same amount to pay but anyway it is huge amount!

Have you every had something like this?
i have something similar written into my contract. although the LL told me that i should be getting money back. i moved out and will see if i get any money back after the year is over.

to be honest, i think i only had the heating on for about 2 months in the last year, mainly because i like it cold in the flat but partly because the heating was broken the first winter

With 80 square meters and cable TV, a lift, and a gardener-handyman I pay CHF 320,-- per month for heating and extra costs on top of my basic rental. That is reasonable.
I think mine is closer to CHF 370/month.

Quote:
- 'Nebenkosten' usually amount to 15-25% of the monthly rent
So I'm at 18%, reasonable then.

Way too high. It's almost like a second rent.
It is a 4,5 room apartment, I have been checking the annual bills, and I got CHF 100 returned from last year.

I assure you it is reasonable.

Re: Heating bill...

Mine is 3.5 room, around 90 m2 and we pay 180 CHF monthly as NB.

Now I think will upgrade to 220 monthly, easier to swallow than 600 CHF by the year end.

Ours was 360 CHF per year and the owner charged us retroactively for 3 years since he had'nt bothered to send us the annual bill. That hurt !!
