Should/Could I report to the police for this case?

At early September, I subletted my room to a guy from Muenich for two weeks. But he left without giving back my keys.

I found a note on the table said he would give back my key soon, but he totally disappeared since then. I know his phone number and email address. But the phone was switched off while there was no reply to my emails.

There are some trails about him because he left a pile of papers here. I found an envelop from SBB with a address nearby my place, two unused phone numbers and so on.

I am wondering should I report the issue to the police or go to the address shown on the sbb envelop and ask if he/she knows the guy.

Thanks in advance.

If it was only about the keys, just make a standard police report, show it the landlord and get his written consent to make an authorised copy or have the locks changed.

Yeah, simply change the locks if you are overly worried...
