Hi OliverH,
We are in the very same predicament, its like your wrote my first post for me!!! Moving from Ireland to Zurich in the next two months with wife and two kids, both 3 and 1.

My wife and I were in Zurich for the weekend and like Sofia suggested, we hopped on and off trams and trains all weekend & walked around the city and lake area. We fell in love with Thalwil but we're concerned about the prices for accommodation there. I will be working in Opfikon area and I'm budgeting 3.5k max for 3 bedroom apt.
Still trying to figure out what's what at the moment!
I'm sure we'll get there, eventually.
A bit daunting at first, but a great experience nevertheless, I'm sure!

I will be working in Kreis 2 (I think).
Alright, finally got confirmation of WHERE I will be working (gotta love the agents eh)
Not Kreis 2, but Adliswil.

So, we've finally centered our search area, and we're now looking at Adliswil, Rüschlikon, Langnau am Albis, Thalwil, Oberrieden and Horgen.

Onwards and upwards.

What we really need to do is to make up our mind about what we're looking for, if we're putting all our stuff in storage temporarily, or trying to get a place immediately and do just the one move.
Tough nut to crack, that whole moving country thing... was a lot easier when I was 20, single and skint.
