Slate

Where can I buy massive slabs of slate, either in rough stone form, or almost chalkboard form? Can't I just hike some where out there in the mountains and "find" it just meandering about?
I watched Swiss HD tv and saw a whole valley of it, just laying there.
Any suggestions? Want to use it on walls. Maybe floors too.

Re: Slate

I did a searc for slate and found this thread. My question is similar: is there some place to buy cut squares of slate? I need something like 32cm x 32cm, and a larger piece about 100cm x 40cm.

Thoughts?

Re: Slate

I'm interested, but I doubt that it is the style that I want if you have a few boxes of it

I have in mind a large, thick slab of slate to lay on top of a dresser (two of them, actually). One piece: 37 cm square. Second piece: 78cm x 47cm (roughly). Does that fit with what you have?
