Olten or Lucerne

Good evening everyone
I have been living and working in Neuchatel for 3 years. My husband's career may take him to Lucerne.

Can i have your thoughts on living in Olten or Lucerne?
The latter is a much larger commute for me but I can trim my visits back ot the Neuchatel office to 1 day a week.

Any thoughts on life in either city would be appreciated

Thanks
T

Instead of starting a new thread on Olten, I'll post on this one, how do the Swiss see Olten ?
I get the feeling it is the butt of a lot of jokes like Aargau, is that right ?

Nope, that's Burgdorf. Most boring town in Switzerland. Believe it or not I had to find this out for a report my boss was doing. The same report was going to 5 different countries and I had to check with our local contacts in each country to find out which place was considered the most boring, then that name was put in the appropriate place in that country's report.

If you only need to go to the office once a week, I'd be all for moving somewhere within a very short distance of the office.

It's so lovely to work and live close by, and makes for many more possibilities outside work hours (or even taking lunch together occasionally)...

I wonder what it's makes it the most boring town, it's only 30 KM from Bern on the map, looks like there are some good hills for hiking...

I work in Olten, but I wouldn't live there... It is pretty dead.

Don't know, Roestigraben. This was back in the early 90s so maybe not many museums and activities in the city itself. I can't remember what the other 4 places were, but Burgdorf was the immediate answer I got from our Swiss liaison; she didn't even have to think about it. Guess that's why it's always stuck in my mind.

Well... what do you like to do? Living in a distant suburb of Olten works for me, but I admit, the city itself was not the main attraction.
