If you could pull this off you'd be one lucky man.

You need to be looking nowhere near central Zurich for a start for practically both your budgets.

You are heavily disadvantaged not physically being here whilst trying to secure an apartment. To put this in perspective, apartments often have ques of people outside to view them and the landlord the pick of the best. So naturally they go for 'safe' tenants I.e. Long term, high salary to be sure of rent being paid, if Swiss prob even better.

And if the girlfriend can't find work, and that won't be easy, have you considered then what?? Some potentially tough choices to make.
