Websites for Discount DIY Supplies?

Hi all,

My husband and I are about to embark on a major DIY project (an old farmhouse). My husband is Swiss and did his apprenticeship in construction, so he knows quite a bit about codes and such, what we can do ourselves and not.

I am originally from the U.S. and love doing projects myself, home repair and otherwise, but I have yet really figured how to do that in Switzerland because it always just costs too much! (Until now, my sources of fabric have either been IKEA or thrift stores, which are also not the cheapest.) I've visited several Jumbos, Coop Bau & Hobbys, and Migro Do-Its, but those are all rather limited in selection and expensive (for DIYers). Ricardo.ch also doesn't seems to have much either.

I am wondering if anyone has any good website recommendations for DIY supplies ranging from things like fabric and craft supplies to home repair supplies (think facets, sinks, tiles, and shower surrounds). All the websites that I know are in the U.S. (Overstock.com, ebay, Craiglist, etc.) and I would love some recommendations for European websites.

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: I think this is in the wrong forum. It seems that "Other/General" would be better. Could one of the moderators move this?

Have you tried in Hornbach? IME marginally cheaper but usually a much wider range
