I'd have thought this was quite clear. At the moment, Swisspea has obviously the option of calling the OH in the case of a lost key, knowing that the OH would rush to assist.
And if "OH" is not available.......

But by having one with a friendly neighbor, she could do either, depending on circumstances, traveling, away, busy, whatever.

I just can't really understand why their is a difference if she was solo or not !

It's OK, don't worry your pretty little head over it

What if OH and neighbours are away?

Incidentally, Securitas have a key deposit scheme for such cases. You can leave a key with them and they can make the key available to you, or even let you in, in an emergency. http://www.securitas.ch/en/services/...anagement.html .
We don't use this service, but we do use the Securitas key badges, so hopefully our keys would be returned to us in the event of a loss. However, the information on the badges is rather sparse so the finder would have to know German (and indeed know that Securitas operates in Switzerland) to begin to claim the Fr. 50.- reward.

Re: Keyfinder...perfect service!

May I ask you what the email address is? I have changed address and I haven't found yet any contact to let them know that I moved.

Thanks
Chiara

When we first arrived in Switzerland, 3.5 years ago, I read about Keyfinder on the EF. http://www.keyfinder.ch/

We got a card from the local post office, and registered our house keys. Moved house 18 months ago, and it was a very simple process to let keyfinder know our new address, and switch the keyrings to our new keys. Once a year we get an email just checking that our address is current - with a reply if anything needs to be updated.

Fast forward to last week, when one of my kids dropped a house key in transit between Zurich and Lugano. Three days later, a missed telephone call on my husband's mobile, a quick return phone call to an extremely helpful phone operator (in english) and the key arrived by registered post the next morning...

Cost is 30chf per keytag, for 5 years registration. Cost for postage and handling for return of the lost keys was 14chf.

Worth every cent, especially as the spare key is often with our kids or foreign guests.

Basically, how it works, is if found, the finder can put the keys into the nearest post box, and the postal service returns it to keyfinder. It has a number on it, they match that to your details, and give you a call to inform you that the key has been returned, then they verify your address and it is posted back express registered post...
