Is apartment insurance transferrable?

Dear All,

Would any of you know if apartment insurance can be transferred from one apartment to another? I plan to move apartments in the coming months.

I would imagine that the insurance company would only make you pay the shortfall and possibly an administration fee, if the cost of insuring the new apartment is more expensive?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

JAA

You need to check with your agent to verify, but we moved from bern to Winterthur in January. For almost a month we had both apartments. My insurerer told me that we were covered in both places, and the insurance transferred from the old to the new apartment. Also, check your policy as many are multi- year, so it makes sense you can transfer it. But again, you need to check with your specific insurer.

Re: Is apartment insurance transferrable?

We have moved and the insurance just moved with us. No admin fees. Instead the premium went down because we moved out of Zurich city.

We are now in the process of moving again and have been told that the insurance will cover both apartments for the short duration that we have both.
