Torn Textured wallpaper

Our whole apartment (except bathroom) has that white textured wallpaper. The problem is, that our cats have torn chunks off all over the place in the 3 years we have been here.

Now, we are looking to move apartments (to one with painted walls ) and I can imagine the cost of re-papering the whole apartment is going to be horrendous (120m2, 3.5 room with paper floor to 3metre high ceilings).

Has anyone any ideas on what to do or comments on some options I was thinking of like:

Pay for someone to redecorate (probably 2500chfs) before moving

Leave it as is (would it be covered under the wear and tear, I.e. would I only be liable for a proportion of cost, seven 10ths?) and accept cost will be deducted from deposit

Any other solutions?

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Re: Torn Textured wallpaper

What about claiming on your insurance to have it repaired? Friends that just moved had a cat that did the same thing said that they had to pay an excess per room.

We had lots of torn wall paper from the previous owner's dog and I stuck it back down and stippled over it using the end of the brush. Wallpaper is actually my preference to smooth walls where you see the dents and rough walls where you bump your elbow and draw blood.

I understand that its not covered on our home insurance, so not sure of that's just our policy or something

Re: Torn Textured wallpaper

You can't call it fair wear and 'TEAR', surely. And house Insurance normally does NOT cover pet damage of this kind. I'm afraid you need someone to do the re-papering job and painting job- but why not ask the agency first.
