Les Citidines in Ferney Voltaire, just over the border.

http://www.citadines.com/france/fern...re/geneve.html

It is an extended stay hotel/apt. complex with easy F bus transport into GVA.

Re: where did you stay when you arrived (Geneva)??

I stayed at Parks & Suites in Gaillard, a 3 min walk from the border and 3 tram lines in to Geneva:
http://www.parkandsuites.com/en/appa...e-gaillard.php
You get a better rate if you stay for at least a month.
They have free parking as well.

Re: where did you stay when you arrived (Geneva)??

When we arrived at the airport we could not find anywhere where 5 of us plus dog could go.
We ended up in a great appt at the Domaine du Chateauvieux in Satigny Geneva. It cost a flipping fortune and my poor OH was eaten alive by mosquitos - not a good start when the next day you are a guest at a formal do and one of his eyes was completely closed

Re: where did you stay when you arrived (Geneva)??

We stayed in a hotel my organisation paid for for the first two weeks, then in a small apartment in Founex for 2 months we found through here: http://www.geneva-short-term-rental.com/. Pretty expensive though, but it is short-term after all.

Just a tip - don't sell yourself short on short-term accommodation; we misjudged by 2 weeks the amount of time we needed before we could move into our permanent place. When we realised, someone had already booked the short-term place from the day after we were supposed to leave. In the space of two weeks, we moved between a friend's place in Nyon, a temporary sublet in Geneva, one hotel in Lausanne and one hotel in Geneva, before finally moving into our place in Nyon. Worst two weeks I've spent in Switzerland.

Re: where did you stay when you arrived (Geneva)??

Suite Novotel Geneve
Avenue Louis Casai 30, Geneve-Cointrin, Cointrin 1216 , Switzerland (Formerly Suitehotel Geneve)

Lived there for the first three months, was able to negotiate a discount on each month I stayed there. Most probably not so good if you are a family of four but rate the hotel highly as a first home from home, staff were excellent, Ballexet just across the road, airport just 3 stops up the road, city centre not far.
