Moving from Germany to Zurich?

Hello,

I am new in this forum and have some questions. Maybe somebody can give me some useful tips.

My girlfriend and I will move together to Switzerland, because I got a new job in Zurich. We live now in Munich. We have around two months to find a flat and I am not sure, if this is possible being in Germany.

What would you recommend me:
- Move alone to Zurich, somewhere, and then start looking for a flat. My girlfriend would stay in the meantime in Germany with the furniture.
- Move together to Zurich, somewhere, and then start looking for a flat. The furniture would stay in a storage room
- Any other idea?

Thanks!

Re: Moving from Germany to Zurich?

Hiya,

Finding a place here is a bit complicated even when you are here...
I'd suggest you look for short term place (serviced apartment), these are quite expensive but you can let them on a monthly basis and also they are furnished (I think there is company called swiss star aparments as well as many others). And then once you are here you start looking for permanent place, I think it's not possible to find permanent place without permit anyway...

Hi Jaceq,

thank you for the tips. Yes, you are right, they are really expensive. Is it difficult to find a flat share for a couple of months?

Thanks!

Flatshares are available at wgzimmer.ch. You could also commute from a town where accommodation is easier to find. This is quite feasible depending on where in Zurich you will work as public transport is very good here.
