Looking for the best solution

Hi!
First of all I have to say this topic is not about serious looking for apartment, it is some kind of thinking and looking for the best locality with several questions.
I'm going to work in Winterhur in September. I like active life, jogging, cycling, hiking or swimming. That's why I will look for an apartment in small town near Winterthur (up to 30 mins by train) or in the periphery of Winterthur. My priority is to have opinion to go jogging directly from my flat (5 minutes by walking to forest or some park) and have possibility to ride a bike on non frequented roads.
I searched the Internet and found areas such as Winterthur Seen or Effretikon, what do you think about these places?
My brother lives in Schwerzenbach. I think it is nice small town, not far from lake. But I'm also looking for other possibilities. I will live at him for beginning but I would like to find my own apartment as soon as possible.
How long can it last to find any apartment? I would like to get some apartment with minimal of 2 rooms up to 1100-1200/month. I know it is not so much money but I think in small towns it will be easier than eg. in Zürich.
Thank you for ideas!

Try Thurgovie/Booden sea area. Fantastic place to live to do what is important to you, easy travel to Winterthur for work via Frauenfeld.
Steckborn is nice and there is a train to Schafhaussen then to Winterthur, or get small car and go via Frauenfeld. Really good opportunites for outdoor sporty type of life.

Yes, this area seems to be nice but I would prefer some place that is closer such as Effretikon that I've meant or Pfäffikon, Kollbrun - these towns engaged me. Are they good for living?
Is it difficult to find an apartment (with 2-3 rooms) up to 1200/month in 1-2 months (maybe I will get only L permit)? I don't want to begin searching for apartment before arrival, because I want to see the flat, the neighbourhood etc.
