Re: Subrenting issues - a cleaning bill

I know that Basel isnt in your region but the renters association rep spoke English ( I phoned this week). Maybe they can advise on general points or direct you to help locally.

Their number is 061 555 5650

They are open from Monday to Thursday from 1pm to 4pm.

Did you rent it with furniture? because if you used your own furniture he is not allowed to raise the rent. Have a talk with your insurance company and if you can have a talk also with the housing agency, as if they are not aware you will get all your money back!

wiseben has become a little unpopular
Re: Subrenting issues - a cleaning bill

Is this sublease legal? which means the regie is aware of it? if not, I think you can claim the abusive rent back. the cleaning bill is outragous. why pay it?

Just talked to the Regie, they have my name in their system and been informed about this sub renting. The regie said they will not be involved about who will take care of the price for the fridge and broken window, and that I have to discuss and agree with the first tenant.

Eventough, the fridge issue was not reported on the handover day but according to original “Etat des Lieux” when I first moved in last year –it was mentioned that “etat impeccable, appareils menagers comme neufs; frigo idem”. I afraid this is not really good for me.

I think I will wait for the final bill and see whether it is reasonable or not before taking legal advice ??

called to all ASLOCA in the region - and nobody can help with English speaking

Also, IIRC, they can't charge you the full value of the fridge. Only the value after depreciation or something like that. (ETA: Opps! LD already mentioned this. Note to self: Finish reading the thread before replying!)

Have a friend/co-worker who speaks French go with you. You need to find out your rights regarding the rent issue. It seems you have the damage thing covered.

Thank you miniMia! I will definitely take depreciation cost into account.

Tried to get some help from HR (relocation team) at the office today , unfortunately, both of them are on vacation till end of next week. By the way, what do you mean by "I have my damage thing covered"? By third party insurance?

Private Haftpflichtversicherung possibly. ( FR: Assurance ménage & responsabilité civile )

http://en.comparis.ch/hausrat-versicherung/default.aspx

Many threads on Haftpflichtversicherung when searched ( especially using the Google powered option ).
