You can get a sticker from the post office I think that basically says no unsolicited mail or something similar. Stick it to your post box and you will only get mail addressed to you.
Trust me, this doesn't work, nothing can stop them...

That sticker does not do anything where I live. It even seems to attract more spam..............

Re: how can I stop the junk mail from Coop,IKEA..etc

Just a thought: I don't get anymore junk mail addressed to us since over a year - specifically since I no longer have an active landline no. and only mobiles.
I cancelled the landline as with 3 different variations of our names and despite the "no adverts" box crossed, we were constantly inundated with sales calls.

All the worst swearing in several languages didn't relieve the situation.

Now our mailbox is wonderfully empty, exept for the odd, non-addressed local which ignores the "Keine Bewerbung" sign. I like those in-fact.
The Migros paper, as well as all others were settled ages ago with a friendly quick call in English. Haven't cancelled the Coop Zeitung, as it makes quite good free loo-time reading.

Everything else is on-line i.e. bank, credit cards, work, health insurance - push or pull.

Most things allow to just subscribe via email. Then I unsubscribe if not interested. If that doesn't work, then poof - it goes in the junk mail list, never to be seen again.

We have now gone from a full, to a thankfully trash free mailbox. Except for the little neighbour cutie, who thought it was nice to put a small gift of a snowman on a stick in our mailbox yesterday. Wonderful idea, as I'd complemented him on his snowman.

Didn't do much for the legibility of the one snail mail or so I will receive this week, but generally it works!

No landline, no worries about that.

But the pizza man, the kebab man, the "we have a special deal in your area" person and all those others still continue to spam my real mailbox.

Is it time to buy stickers and send that all back?

Interesting. The only thing we get are more or less nail studios, charity & good causes or political (the worst and biggest pile of junk).
We used to get a lot of English written apartment seekers with family photos and personal histories, but not since a while...

Re: how can I stop the junk mail from Coop,IKEA..etc

Sometimes, when it really gets to me, I put this stuff anon in an envelope, address it to the culprit or one of them, stick a 10 Rappen stamp on it, plus an 'A Priority' sticker, wait until Friday then put it in the post. My hope is that the postman will turn up the next day Saturday at the address, need to get the rest of the postage back, maybe have to leave a 'pick up' note so that the firm I've addressed it to will have to go on Monday morning to pick their (and others) junk up and will have to pay the postage - all for nothing. Maybe, when it works, they get outraged too.

This can be classified as being revengeful, being nasty or using the laws of karma.
