Towns on the french side - working in Versoix

Dear members,

I will be working in Versoix (Geneva), and most likely will live in France for obvious reasons.
Can you please list some towns in commutable distance to Versoix? I will have a car
I am interested in knowing how easy to find an apartment, anything from 40 to 60m2
Please share your experience of living in the town/city/village. Plus and minus

Many thanks

Re: Towns on the french side - working in Versoix

The obvious choice is the "Pays de Gex" which is the area between Divonne-les-Bains and Gex or any of the villages in between. Pretty much the whole of that area has now become commuter belt for Geneva and there is a greater choice of accommodation. However prices have also risen rapidly over the last few years and there isn't that much difference anymore between the Swiss and French sides. There is however more availability on the French side.
Commuting into Versoix should be rather easier than into Geneva, though it will be on country roads.

I presume you are an EU citizen or have otherwise checked your permit situation for CH and France? I would imagine it might be tricky for a non-EU to border commute as you suggest (back in the day prior to the bilateral agreements you could only get a G permit if you already lived in the border area of the other country - if Switzerland was giving you a work permit, they obviously wanted you paying taxes and contributing to the Swiss economy y'see).

Pays de Gex is the way to go, IMHO.

Here's a local estate agent's web site. I found one flat, 50m2, for 900/month, without trying. Good luck!
