Actually, one of the things I like about Switzerland is that there isn't that much of this effect. Of course there are pockets where top earners will congregate and price everybody else out. But fortunately those pockets are mostly well out of the way in places like Freienbach and Wollerau, so not much of a loss. And yes, at the other end of the scale there are pockets where the extreme poor and problem cases will migrate towards, also staying out of the way. But again, these places are few and far between. Where I live in the downstream part of Kreis 6 there is a very diverse mix of different age group, social classes, professions, incomes and backgrounds/origins. And in fact a lot of Zürich and its suburbs are like that. There is much less of a ghettoisation than other places I've lived. And BTW, Bülach isn't anywhere near as downmarket or ghettoised as you suggest. Don't judge the entire town by the folks who may hang around the station on a Friday night.

And another BTW, don't equate skin colour with income or social status. I know several Indians who are high-ranking managers and live in high-rent luxury appartments.
Those same several Indians (foreigners!) who are high-ranking managers and live in high-rent luxury apartments are paying too much and pricing others out. Walk around Seefeld and say it ain't so; people either speak High German or English, with the rest kept women from Herrliberg parking their Panzers.

Thankfully Switzerland isn't divided as other nations... yet, but the effects are already reported.

I haven't either. Plus every apartment I've lived in I but a washer/dryer in the bathroom. We did live in a building from 189x's with 3 meter ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors, fireplaces, eat in kitchen and seperate bathroom & toilet. But wait! The beautiful original metal elevator could only fit 2/3 people and no air/con or pool. OMG! How did I survive that!?

Are those skyscrapers? Geneva has a whole neighborhood filled with +/-15 story apartment buildings.
don't brag about your nice apartment. I bet more than 80% swiss households use shared laundry room.

No, no. It was a terrible apartment it had no AC, no pool and the elevator only held two normal people or 3 small peoples.

I didn't realized that when I lived in Belgium I was actually practically in a 3rd world country as I had to take my laundry to the laundromat. Thankfully I didn't have to do my laundry in the river because there was no river close by.

I have to wonder where you live, as this thread is useless without pictures.

I had a shared laundry room, and my apartment had heating from the floor, lovely on the toes in the shower in the morning. Just because one has one thing, and another, another doesn't mean one apartment is better then another(though that ergonomical design was the bomb).

But, I wasn't aware that this thread was actually about a class warfare, and not about beautifully manipulated skylines, dominated by the rich financial sectors need to show their power, whilst at the same time doing that, helping the poor to lead better lives in towers, void of nature.

Trust me, I've seen her apartment, it's ghetto. You have nothing to feel insecure about.

elevators that can barely hold 2 people, no airconditioning at all. It looks more like a developing country
Let's be realistic, more than half of all residential buildings all over Europe do NOT have ANY elevator, which particularily to old people, or others who have to get up heavy stuff, indeed is a nuisance. Most residential buildings in Europe and the Mediterranean do NOT have airconditioning. There normally is no requirement really. In many Mediterranean cties you can meet people sitting on chairs at small table on the road (trottoirs) in front of the computer, and the cables hang down from the window. In many cases however, open windows possibly combined with close shutters really help. Here in Switzerland, decent central heatings are much more important

You´ll be surprised to notice today almost every household in Girona, Barcelona, Valencia and Madrid have an AC with temperatures averaging at 36 degrees.

Even our Nil has at least 2

Exactly my point. Laundry rotation, moldy appartments because of bad air circulation as the windows are too airtight, badly soundproofed, tiny amenities and appliances...
There also are moldy apartments in skyscrapers. And the worst airconditioning I ever witnessed (during two decades) was the crap at the Cargo Terminal East at Zürich-Airport

I before my first visit to the USA thought that the USA was a country full of air-conditioned buildings. Four extensive visits and 25 years later I had gradually learnt my lesson: Nothing could be further from the truth ! The less affluent (middle-class people included) live in moldy apartments, often simply without airconditioning or with air-conditioning of 1950ies vintage. Simply look around in New York. Or, go down south. Look around in states like Texas. Visit areas (well off in fact) like Crosby nr Houston, or Buda nr Austin or Marshall nr the LA border, and visit private people there. Very often no air-conditioning, tiny amenities and appliances.

For a contrast, visit Cairo, leave the hotel anc contact real people. Go into highrise-buildings which have about the appearance and comfort as the Hohentwiehl but people are able to find ways.

I remember holidays in Chersonissos on Crete. I had booked the cheapest available arrangement and so got a room on the rearside with a balcony overlooking the parking spaces. But it was in the shadow and as it was 42°C outside in the sun, it was nice. A couple of old ladies, one of them VERY rich, asked me about MY room (they were fed up with their very hot room right above noisy bars, in spite of Meer-Sicht) and I showed them my "quarters". The rich but usually charming Mrs B. immediately went to the reception desk and within an hour they were just a floor below me And I thereafter within a week got several Metaxas paid by Mrs B which was even nicer !

I simply do not quite see what is so bad about shared laundry rooms

Absolutely.

bricks buildings + earthquake = nightmare
a real earthquake is a nightmare everywhere. A lot will depend on the "underground" and not really on the building(s). And also whether people are prepared to such a danger or not. Imagine an earthquake in Zürich Nothimg and nobody is prepared for something thelike !
