Where's your fridge?

Just had an idle discussion in the office in which we found that all 12 of us have kitchens where the oven is right up against the fridge. I notice that our fridge goes up to 11C when I've got the oven on for any length of time. Just curious if anyone else has this stupid arrangement in the kitchen.

Re: Where's your fridge?

I think you mean where the fridge is right up against the oven. But no, opposite ends of the kitchen.

Re: Where's your fridge?

was EF down or something?

My last two places had oven away from fridge. My first studio palace had them separated by the sink units.

And my beer fridge is even further away

Or the oven is right up against the fridge perhaps. .

Re: Where's your fridge?

I would love to have my oven right up against the oven (sic), cos thats right where it belongs.

My fridge on the other hand is at the wrong end of a breakfast bar in an open plan kitchen standing out like a lonely sentinel surveying the living area, and obscuring it from anyone standing in the kitchen. A Meisterwerk of crap design.

Duh! Sorry - Rephrased it now. Usually write something with such a clanger and send it out to 700 investors so you should count yourselves honoured

Re: Where's your fridge?

My oven is right up next to my fridge as well. Although, for some reason, the oven is also built into a set of cupboards, so has storage units above and below, and then a hob over the other side of the kitchen with extractor unit (and more cupboards below)

Craziness.

Re: Where's your fridge?

While my oven is not right next to the fridge, there is a cabinet in between, if the oven is open you cannot open the fridge... Said oven is at 45 degree angle to said fridge. That being said it is a sad design.

I noticed this the first time I used my oven seriously after moving here. The milk in the fridge which had been fresh a couple of hours earlier had gone sour.

This does seem to be a popular arrangement here. When a Swiss colleague decided to put a new kitchen in he was genuinely surprised that the designer didn't put the oven and fridge next to each other, and had to ask why.

Re: Where's your fridge?

My fridge is set into the wall opposite the oven. So when you open the door from the kitchen that leads to stairs down to the cellar, you see the back of the fridge above you hanging dangerously in mid air - now that's bizarre kitchen planning. Works though!
