Replacement glass for fridge

Hey there, we have an ancient Bosch fridge which came with the apartment (I think it's been on its last leg for years).
We've been using our own because the one with the apartment is tiny and we're not even sure if it works properly.

Anyways, somehow the bottom glass part broke. I made sure there were no hot pots or anything heavy... but the glass shattered.
I need to know where I can get a replacement glass or rack (from an old fridge or something).

Has anyone had this problem before? I'm not sure what to really search for on Ricardo/google.ch... kühlschrank glasplatte, regal? I don't know really where to go look at old thrown away fridges or what to search for, for used replacement parts.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer... we are moving at the end of the month! (stupid glass broke last week)

Re: Replacement glass for fridge

Contact the manufacturer and get them to send you a replacement. You'd be surprised that they still stock parts for ancient fridges. Here in Switzerland everyone's rental kitchen is something from the ark.

We have an ancient Beko fridge and one of the compartments in the door cracked (I think the antique plastic just gave out one day) and they were able to send the exact part to us.

Their spares department must be like something from Area 51.

Re: Replacement glass for fridge

Thanks SG... but that's the point. I am wondering if there are maybe other options. I don't want to have to pay 100chf for a "new" Bosch glass plate. I would be happy with anything (except a piece of cardboard) to stick in there... Something from any old fridge that maybe has been thrown out. Anyone else have ideas?

Fust can order you any replacement part but it will cost you lots! Also be very clear on what you need and keep the edges of the glass shelf and any other bits that can be detached from the glass. We didn't and literally all that came was the glass so we then had to buy the other parts.

Any glass handler will cut you a piece from thick glass, do you have the measurements?

Or go to a "recyler", there might be the same model 'fridge on the scrap heap,

Re: Replacement glass for fridge

I had to order replacement parts for my fridge from Siemens. Parts were quoted as approx 10-20chf and free postage! All the parts and model numbers was also available on their website. I was surprised at how cheap and quick they were so might be worth contacting the manufacturer if you haven't already.
