Costs and arrangements when hiring a house cleaner in Zug

We moved into our own place in Zug about 2 weeks ago.
We are considering hiring a cleaner once every 2 weeks to clean the house and do some ironing (if at all). We live in a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment. What would the cost be and how would all the admin and other arrangements work?
If (and that is what I assume) the cleaner works on an hourly basis, what is the average amount of hours he/she would need to clean such a place?
Also how would I go about to find a cleaner?

Any help is welcome

Typically CHF 35-40 per hour via an established agency. I generally recommend agencies because they take care of all the legal responsibilities of a decent employer. Some people work out private deals for less i.e. CHF 25-30 but this usually excludes the trappings like insurance etc. It's not advisable to skirt legal aspects of this matter in Switzerland because if things go bad it can get really expensive.
I used to have bi-weekly (2-hours per visit) cleaner for a 2-room (1 bed, 1 living room, kitchen, bath) apartment and I used www. putzfrauenvermittlung.ch. Very decent and reliable service as an agency although the cleaners themselves are bit variable - some great and some a bit sloppy.
I reckon your place will take 4 hours, so that's a monthly bill of around CHF 320. Depends a bit on how much stuff you've got in there and what counts as "standard" and extras - make sure you get that cleared up (like crystal clear) with your agency.

For you as an employer, an agency is of course very comfortable. However, often these agencies pay their employees very poorly with net wages of around CHF 20.-/hour or even less, while you pay around CHF 40.- / hour.

Your cleaner will be a lot happier if you employ her yourself because she can easily earn CHF 27.- / hour net while you pay around CHF 33.- / hour.
The process of employing a cleaner yourself is not that complicated, ask the social security office of your canton.

If you don't want to take care of any paperwork, there are also services like http://quitt.ch that are in English. This service allows you to employ your cleaner legally in just a few minutes. They also have a wage calculator on their page. However, I personally have not used this service yet.

If you really want a cleaning agency, then try to avoid putzfrauenvermittlung.ch since there have been reports in the "Beobachter" magazine that they did not pay the salaries to some of their employees lately and that this company has already been bankrupt before and now reopened again under the same name.
For more info in German see here (Scroll down to Marco Gloor) or check the latest printed edition for "Putzfrauen ohne Lohn"

Thanks for the reply. I have also heard that it is not that complicated to hire someone yourself. Will definitely check it out.
